When you have type 2 diabetes, your body does not break down sugar properly. Your pancreas may not make sufficient insulin to help digest sugar, or your body might not be using the insulin effectively. Avandaryl is made up of two different drugs that address both issues: glimepiride and rosiglitazone. First, glimepiride coaxes your body to make more insulin on its own. Then, rosiglitazone helps your body to use that insulin more effectively. Together with diet and exercise, all of these components work to optimize your diabetes control.
