    The exact way in which touch therapies work for healing is not clear. Some theories conclude that after a massage or bodywork healing may occur because of chemical changes in the body with the boost of endorphins and enkephalins (neurochemicals dubbed the “body’s natural opiates”), the reduction of the stress hormone cortisol, and the positive change in T-cells as immune function improves.
