An enamelectomy, which repairs tooth enamel, is a common procedure that has been practiced for decades.

An enamelectomy may involve direct and indirect dental restorations or repairs. A direct restoration is a filling that can be completed in a single visit. These are the most common enamel repairs. An indirect restoration or repair, -- such as a veneer  bridge, crown, or inlay -- generally requires two or more visits to the dentist.
