How common is cardiogenic shock?

Cardiogenic shock is a very rare condition, only occurring in about 7 percent of people who have a heart attack. However, approximately 50 percent of all patients who develop the condition will die from it. It is exceedingly important to call Emergency 9-1-1 if you or someone you know is experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack or cardiogenic shock.
