    Chestnuts in the shell should be stored in a perforated plastic bag in the refrigerator, where they will keep for two to three weeks. To freeze chestnuts, make a small incision in each one, place on a baking sheet, and freeze. Then, transfer to an airtight container and return to the freezer, where they will keep for up to four months.
