Medicare can benefit you by covering a large share of your healthcare expenses.

Hospital care, home health care, and hospice care are all covered under Medicare Part A with no monthly premium. That’s why you paid those taxes for all those years, so you could reap the benefit of reasonably priced health care once you stop working. You can also receive additional coverage for physician visits, diagnostic tests, and prescription drugs at a reasonable cost through Medicare Part B, C, and D.

Medicare can help you by paying for specific health care costs. Medicare Part A covers hospital care, hospice care and home health care. Normally you do not pay a monthly premium for these services if you paid Medicare taxes while employed. If you do not qualify for Medicare Part A under the no-fee basis, you can purchase out-patient care and some preventive services. It must be purchased through a private insurance company that is approved for Medicare. Medicare Part D is offered to everyone who qualifies for Medicare and covers the cost or a portion of the cost for prescriptions. In general, individuals over the age of 65 or some individuals with disabilities under the age of 65 can benefit from Medicare insurance.
