    Dr. Robin Miller answered:
    The best way to improve your health is to eat a healthy diet, achieve a healthy level of fitness and a normal weight and never smoke or quit smoking if you do. For many years we have known that the majority of premature deaths in the US are related to lifestyle choices.  

    The major culprits are tobacco, poor diet and lack of physical activity in that order. The remainder of deaths related to lifestyle can be attributed to alcohol, infection, toxins, guns, sexually transmitted diseases, motor vehicle accidents and drugs.  

    Despite all the gains that we have made in medicine, health ultimately comes down to each and every one of us and the choices that we make.
