When people choose to make a positive change they usually look for experts or information to help facilitate that change. You obviously are aware change needs to happen, but maybe you can't see a resolution because you are so close to the problem or maybe because you are the problem. By asking for help from someone on the outside who is looking in, they are more than likely to see a resolution than you are. They might have resources that they can provide to help you with whatever you are trying to change. It is always good to have someone you trust, whether a companion, family member or a professional, to bounce ideas off of or to give you ideas to map out a way to help you become successful in "change".
