Here are a few simple things that can make you feel a lot better after drinking:

Milk Thistle—Milk thistle is a flowering herb that has been used traditionally as an herbal remedy for liver ailments. Today this herb is used as a nutritional supplement in the hope of improving liver cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis (liver inflammation), and gallbladder disorders. A recent journal article from Italy called milk thistle "the most well-researched plant in the treatment of liver disease." 350 milligrams per day of the herb milk thistle is the standard amount.

Magnesium—Alcohol and foods high in sodium and sugar tend to deplete the mineral magnesium. Magnesium relaxes muscles and is anti-inflammatory. This mineral also has a laxative effective, so it can help relieve constipation. Magnesium has also been found to have a protective effect against stress. Take 200 to 300 milligrams per day of the mineral magnesium (unless you have kidney problems or you're prone to diarrhea).

Brewed Green Tea—Drink several cups of green tea daily, which has powerful antioxidants that help the body detoxify.

Protein—Alcohol can deplete your liver of glutathione, your liver's most important natural detoxifier. Eating protein helps to build the glutathione back up. Eat moderate amounts of protein, one serving at each meal.

Fruits and Vegetables—Most alcohol is inflammatory so you are going to want to eat to reduce inflammation. The appetizing colors of fruits and vegetables are due to natural food pigments called flavonoids and carotenoids, which are the most potent dietary antioxidants. Studies have shown that it takes about 9 servings a day to combat inflammation.
