    Babies actually are born with very poor eyesight. Initially their vision is about 2400, which means that they can only see about a foot in front of their face. They do, however, like human faces the best, so if you get close to them, they can actually fixate early on. As they grow, that vision will improve to be 20/20 by the time they are about 3 to 5 years old.
