Are Hodgkin's lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma the same disease?

Hodgkin's lymphoma is identified by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma has no such cells.     No, although they are one of a group of cancers referred to collectively as Lymphomas. Almost all lymphomas arise from disordered lymphocytes but each one of a dozen or so lymphomas arise at a different stage of lymphocyte development . What is key is to remember that while all lymphomas arise from lymphocytes the types of treatment  used is quite different in Hodgkin's disease and in each of the other lymphomas so it is very important to your doctor to know which type of lymphoma you have.
