How is HIV/AIDS affecting women?

Women can become infected with HIV in the same way as a male. Through sexual transmission or sharing needles. Many people erroneously believe that women cannot get HIV from vaginal sex; however, this is not the case. HIV can be transmitted through oral, vaginal, or anal sex. A woman can also pass HIV to a male partner or to a child, if she becomes pregnant.
