Everyone experiences ups and downs.  No pun intended!  However, they recover to their normal state when the temporary stress is under control.  If you have surgery, a baby, an acute illness, final exams...all these stresses and more will throw you off your game.  You do not need to seek help for these normal ups and downs in life.  However, if you continue to be down when the stress is relieved or if it is a stress that doesnèt go away as expected, see your health care provider.  They may be able to help you cope with the stress better or refer you to someone who specializes in stress management.  The advantage to seeing your health care provider is that they will give you a comprehensive once over to make sure it is not something more medical than stress.
