    Yes, a fever blister on the mouth is herpes simplex 1.  It can also be triggered by sun exposure, so make sure to wear sunscreen on your lips.  An over the counter supplement, lysine, can help prevent outbreaks, and several prescription medications, such as Valtrex and Zovirax can make a tremendous difference in reducing healing time.
