In my opinion, there is a definite gender bias. Female sexual dysfunction has not been approached with the same sense of importance or expediency as male sexual dysfunction has been. The true nature of female sexual response has been unrecognized and not researched because historically and still in some cultures today, nice women were not supposed to have sexual responses beyond being receptive to their husbands. When women started talking about dissatisfaction with sex and being unable to respond as they wished, the first efforts were to make them more educated and aware of themselves sexually - more or less to give them permission to be sexual. Even today, with all our medical advancements there is still nothing consistently available, even by prescription, to help women who are sexually aware but no longer able to physically respond. There is no Viagra equivalent for women. It will probably not rank high on the product development lists until it becomes as socially desirable for women to be easily aroused sexually as it is for men.
