Many female problems cause the genital area to become itchy, red, painful, or swollen. Injury to the genitals may cause bruising or swelling. Cancers that affect the genitals in women may spread throughout the body if they're not treated right away. Many problems that begin in the genitals can cause effects throughout the reproductive system and the rest of the body if they're left untreated.
