Can essential tremor (ET) be prevented?

Essential tremors (ET) cannot be prevented. Children of people with ET have a 50 percent chance of getting the gene that causes the tremor. Having the gene, however, does not mean that they will develop a tremor. If you have an essential tremor, you can try to avoid things that trigger your tremor. Pay attention to your stress level and try to avoid too much caffeine.
