    Bad breath (halitosis) can be an embarrassing social condition. You may be unaware that your breath has an unpleasant odor. People may not be comfortable informing someone that they have this condition. There are individuals who believe that they have bad breath when they do not. This is called psychogenic halitosis, and can also cause emotional distress.
