After ablation for atrial fibrillation, ECG monitoring is important  for clinical care . The ECG shows how fast your heart is beating and its rhythm. Your doctor will monitor your heart rate and rhythm to ensure that your A-Fib does not recur. This is common during the first one to three months after a catheter ablation procedure. Since many people with atrial fibrillation do not show outward symptoms following catheter ablation, monitoring may also help detect arrhythmia symptoms. Your doctor will evaluate the ECG results to determine whether to continue anticoagulation medication and other treatment.
