    Dr. Michael Roizen answered:
Eating fish may help improve your brain function, that is, if you eat fish like salmon and trout that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, our favorite healthy fat and super brain food. These oils reduce your depression and help improve your symptoms. Not to mention, that areas of the world where people eat a lot of fish have much lower rates of bipolar disorder. However, this is just a correlation, so the verdict is still out on how much they really do help.

There is some evidence that diet may influence the risk of bipolar disorder, with a healthy diet being protective and an unhealthy diet increasing risk.
