With this test doctors can view the veins inside your arms, legs, and torso to check for any irregularities in blood flow that may indicate blockage by a clot. In Doppler ultrasonography, your doctor will move a hand-held device (transducer) over the area of the suspected blood clot. The transducer transmits and receives back sound waves that create a moving picture on a monitor.
