Spirulina is full of nutrients including protein, beta-carotene, phycocyanin, B-complex vitamins, chlorophyll, vitamin E and various minerals, so it may work as a nutritional supplement. However, more evidence is needed to show that it has any actual benefit for the disorders for which people take it, such as nasal allergies, arsenic poisoning, diabetes, eye disorders, malnutrition, high cholesterol, weight loss and pre-cancerous mouth sores. Speak to your doctor if you are thinking about taking spirulina.
