The health benefits of physical activity climb steadily with increasing activity from sedentary to burning about 2,000 to 2,500 calories a week in such things as brisk walking or jogging. This is the amount of energy you might burn walking or jogging 20 to 25 miles. Beyond this point the benefits appear to level out; more activity doesn't seem to confer significant additional health benefits, although more activity will provide improved fitness and many emotional and cognitive benefits.

Going from a sedentary lifestyle to an active lifestyle will surely present plenty of health benefits.  You will feel more alert, have more energy, and have an increased confidence about yourself.  As you progress and become more and more active, the benefits will eventually level themselves out until your activity changes.  When you first start, you may start walking, then increase to running, and then transition to strength training.  All of these forms of exercise have benefit and they will all vary and give you benefit.
