    When tissue is harmed by an infection, illness or injury, that tissue may be getting less oxygen than is needed to keep it healthy. In hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the air pressure of a chamber is raised, which allows the lungs to collect almost three times as much oxygen as they normally would. When blood is saturated with oxygen it releases growth factors and stem cells, which encourages healing.
