A cracked tooth may not always hurt. You may not even know that you have a cracked tooth. You may not have any regular pain, but might begin to notice a little pain when you chew.

You can help your dentist with the diagnosis by keeping track of when your tooth does hurt and what you were doing when it hurt. If you were drinking a hot or cold beverage when your tooth hurt, you have increased sensitivity to temperature changes and this can be an indication of a cracked tooth.
