Does albuterol interact with other medications?

Yes, albuterol is known to interact with some medications. Taking albuterol in conjunction with diuretics increases the risk of low blood potassium levels. Albuterol may decrease the effectiveness of digoxin. Beta-blockers may decrease the effectiveness of albuterol. The risk of side effects from albuterol is increased when it is taken in conjunction with the following medications: catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitors, epinephrine, MAOIs, short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators, stimulants, sympathomimetics or tricyclic antidepressants. Albuterol is not known to interact with any foods.
