Many of the people I know with mental illness have a lower level of income compared to others without the disorder. This may be because they have had to go on disability due to the severity of their symptoms, or if they are able to work, sometimes they cannot work full-time. This limits the amount of money available to spend on fun activities. For some, a trip to the movies is way over their budget.
