Do genetics dictate the shape of my body?

Denise Miccoli answered:The answer to that question is…to an extent. According to Tosca Reno, author of the Eat Clean Diet, genetics are responsible for 10% of how we look. Diet is 80% and the other 10% is our training. We definitely have a certain body type and that is part of what we have to embrace. For example many women have a pear shape. They are small on the top and wider at the hips and upper thighs. Pear shaped women have a tough time leaning out the lower half of the body. Adding muscle to your upper body especially your back and shoulders can go a long way to balancing this out. In short, we can’t fight what we have but we sure can work with it!
