Sometimes. The beauty of defined contribution health plans is that you have a lot of options. So when it comes to eye care and eyewear costs, it depends on what type of plan you have selected and/or if you have a medical spending/savings account. Contact your plan’s administrator or examine your paperwork if you have questions.

    UnitedHealthcare answered:
Defined contribution plans are a newer kind of insurance plans and differ from employer-sponsored vision care benefits. Defined contribution health plans let you save money by paying for eye-care costs such as eye exams and prescription eyewear out of your paycheck with pre-tax income. This pre-tax income deduction also pays for a portion of the vision care premium. Defined contribution health plans are also called self-directed health plans or consumer directed health plans.
