Do bruises behind my child's ears mean his concussion was serious?

    National Athletic Trainers’ Association answered:
    These bruises are known as battle signs. They are common with concussions due to the trauma to that part of the head. If an athlete has battle signs, a doctor should evaluate them. The bruises will go away over time, but they may be an indicator of severe head trauma.
