By including different types of activities in your exercise routine, you'll train more muscles and, as a result, lose more fat. If you've been running on the treadmill, try the elliptical or rowing machines. If you've been cycling, why not try an aerobic dance or salsa class? If possible, also throw in a yoga, Pilates, or stretch class during the week. If you're counting steps, increase your steps per day, working up to at least 14,000 to satisfy the aerobic requirement.

There are many reasons why you should do different types of exercise. Doing multiple exercises will help you recruit different muscle to give your body faster strength gains and more balance. There different categories of exercise, each needed for specific goals you may have such as, Stabilization, Endurance, Hypertrophy, Maximal Strength, Stabilization Endurance, Strength Endurance, Power, Dynamic Exercises, Plyometric, Sports Enhancement, Corrective Exercise, etc. We also can't forget your cardiovascular exercises like, elliptical, biking, running, spinning, rowing, swimming, hiking, etc. Doing different exercises will increased bone density, reduced stress, reduced risk of heart disease and some types of cancer, temporary relief from depression and anxiety, more confidence about how you feel and how you look, better sleep and give you more energy. So limiting yourself to just one or minimal amount of exercises will allow you to miss out on an opportunity to have a well-rounded and more complete healthy exercise routine. So check with your Personal Trainer/ Fitness Professional to have an assessment, before starting your new exercise routine. Go get started.

There is no one exercise that satisfies every goal. Your body will eventually adapt to continuous performance of the same exercise and or routine. By challanging your body through systematically and periodically changing variables such as specific exercises, amount of weight, repitition range, tempo, etc. you can train your body completely and keep progressing toward whatever fitness goal you may have.

If you want lasting results from exercise while minimizing risk of injury, an "integrated" approach to exercise is your best solution. Integrated training is a concept that incorporates all forms of exercise into a workout routine. Some forms of training include flexibility training (stretching); cardio training; core training; balance training and resistance training. By performing different types of exercises you'll keep your exercise routines fresh and challenge your muscles in various fashions. This can improve performance traits such as strength, speed, power and aid in weight loss simultaneously.
