Is dialysis equipment used in the ICU for renal problems?

    Yes. There is the traditional hemodialysis for stable patients and continuous renal replacement therapy for very sick and unstable patients. There is also peritoneal dialysis done through the abdomen, usually overnight for some patients. In my experience, peritoneal dialysis is rare in the ICU and is usually used if the patient is already on peritoneal dialysis at home.
