Never eat seconds. That said, now please do not fill that first plate with twice as much food. If you don’t already eat seconds, buy smaller plates. If you go to an antique store and look at the size of dinner plates and breakfast bowls that were used 50 years ago compared to today’s you’ll be amazed. Eat slowly. Do NOT eat in front of the TV. Light a candle, sit at a table and converse with your loved ones while you eat. The more you talk, the less you eat. The slower you eat the more likely the signals that tell your brain that your stomach is full will get there before you overeat. Drink lots of water. Consider eating your side salad at home before the meal like you do at a restaurant. Remember to moderate your white foods and avoid white food stacking (you don’t really need both dinner rolls and a baked potato in one meal). Anything “bad” for you that you just can’t stand to do without, cut back on 10% at a time over many weeks.
