Are there cures for oral health problems in people with diabetes?
-
Dr. De Vizio of Colgate answered:Mouth infections can be cured. Bacterial infections can be cured with antibiotics. Unfortunately, some bacteria are becoming resistant to some antibiotics and could cause treatment failures. In such a case, the dentist would simply try a different antibiotic. Fungal infections, such as thrush, can be cured with antifungals. While there are cures for most infections, there are no cures for dental cavities or for serious or advanced gum disease; they can only be contained or treated.
