Karen Scaglione of Honor Society of Nursing (STTI) answered:Yes a critical care nurse may work in a trauma unit. A critical care nurse may float to all different units such as: cardiology unit, med surg unit, surgical unit, and neuro unit are just some of the different units that utilize a critical care nurse. Critical care nurses are trained to handle patients that have been sicker than the average patient on the floor. This includes learning advanced training from a critical care program or trauma program that is likely sponsored by the Hospital/facility you are working for.
