For example, people with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) face an 800 times greater chance than someone without HIV of developing Kaposi sarcoma, a cancer usually marked by dark lesions on the body. People with HIV also face a greater chance of developing Hodgkin lymphoma (10 times greater), anal cancer (nine times greater), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (seven times greater), liver or lung cancer (three to four times greater), and cervical cancer (three times greater) than people without HIV.
