Can children be immunized on a schedule that spreads shots out?

Yes. There is some flexibility in the vaccine schedule. However, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) bases their recommendations on studies showing when children are at highest risk for different diseases, and at what age the vaccines work the best. If the vaccines are spread out, ensure none are forgotten or missed to give your child the most protection.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have offered the official recommendations on vaccine scheduling based on when children are most at risk for the vaccine preventable diseases. Much study has gone into these recommendations and physicians who practice evidence based medicine will advise to follow these recommendations.

However, some parents still feel uncomfortable with vaccines. As a parent, you should never feel forced to vaccinate. It is your child and your choice.
