What are the symptoms of carotid artery stenosis?
-
Dr. Charles I. Wilmer of Piedmont Heart Institute answered:The symptoms may be seen as visual changes including blurred vision or loss of vision, especially in one eye. The patient may present with weakness on one side of his/her body. It may only involve one part of that side, such as a hand or a foot. Some patients may present with seizures or severe headaches. Interestingly, most people will not have symptoms at all despite having a very tight blockage in one of their carotid arteries. This is why patients are often screened for this disease.
