  1. There is no evidence to suggest that carcinoid syndrome affects children differently than adults. The condition is very rare in general, and the only real difference is that carcinoid tumors of the appendix tend to appear earlier in life - in the teens for females and in the twenties for males. If you suspect that you or your child has the disease, see your doctor right away, as the rate of survival is much higher the earlier it is treated.
