Stacy Wiegman answered:Be sure to take the correct dosage of any prescription medication exactly as you have been directed by your doctor and pharmacist. For example, with amoxicillin plus clavulanic acid, the same amount of clavulanic acid is in the 250 mg. tablet as in the 500 mg. tablet. You cannot take two 250 mg. tablets as a substitute for one 500 mg. tablet or you will get the incorrect dose of clavulanic acid.
