Male menopause can easily be treated by a physician who is skilled in treating this condition. There are several options available to men, which includes over the counter supplements, medical and surgical options.

Nutritionally, there are several options which include: DHEA, zinc, the herbs Tribulus and Macca. If you try over the counter remedies you must monitor your symptoms for improvement.

Medically, there is the conservative option of Clomid, a pill, which will mimic the signal from the brain to the testicle and will stimulate the production of testosterone. Not all men are candidates for this treatment. Similarly, HCG which is famous for weight loss, is FDA approved to increase testosterone levels by mimicking the same signal from the brain as Clomid. HCG has to be injected 2-3 times a week.

The other medical options are topical, injectable and testosterone patches. Topical testosterone can be transferred to others up to 12 hours after application; this is not advised if there are small children living at home. The patches are applied to the skin, cosmetically it is unappealing. Injectable testosterone is a popular option and requires some training and skill.

Testosterone pellets is the surgical option. The pellets are inserted in the buttocks with a minor office surgical procedure. Pellets time release testosterone for 3-5 months after implantation.

Ultimately, you and your physician will jointly make a decision as to the best treatment option based on your unique circumstances.
