Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are associated with an increased risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes including premature birth, low birth weight, and cesarean section. Tell your doctor if you are planning to get pregnant and make sure to take your medication as instructed. Your doctor can make sure to carefully monitor your disease prior to conception and throughout the pregnancy.

If you have a flare-up of Crohn's disease during pregnancy, you have a slightly higher risk of miscarriage, preterm birth, and stillbirth.
