Whether or not a person can drive after a stroke depends on the area of brain affected and the disabilities a person has. Strokes may impair strength and coordination making driving unsafe. Additionally, strokes can affect one's vision and perceptual abilities which may not be as obvious as weakness. Rehabilitation specialists can best judge one's driving ability and make specific recommendations.
