Early studies suggested that cinnamon might be effective for lowering blood sugar (glucose) levels. Recent studies show conflicting results regarding the effect of cinnamon on blood sugar levels. There is also some concern that large amounts of cinnamon may result in liver damage. More evidence-based research is needed to rate the effectiveness of cinnamon in lowering blood sugar. Using cinnamon in amounts commonly found in foods is generally considered safe.
