There are no age limits for insulin pumps and their supplies. Insulin pumps may even be used on babies. In this case, an adult has to control the pump with a remote. It is very important that a child be mature enough if they are going to operate the insulin pump themselves. The child must fully understand how their insulin pump works and what its function is. You should discuss insulin pumps with both your child and doctor before deciding if it is the best treatment for your child's diabetes.
