If you have had previous surgery in your bladder region, you may be at risk for overactive bladder. Studies show that up to 30% of men who have undergone prostate surgery are at risk for incontinence. For women, giving birth vaginally can result in pelvic prolapse. With this condition, the pelvic muscles weaken, causing the bladder and uterus to extend into the vaginal canal. Surgery to correct prolapse can lead to bladder control problems.
