Let’s give ourselves a boost of invigorating energy. First, enliven your body by lengthening your spine upward from a comfortable position that’s evenly aligned in your seat. This exercise moves breath in and out rapidly through your nose, while keeping your mouth gently closed. Your inhalation and exhalation should be of equal length and as short as comfortably possible, producing a lively movement of the diaphragm. This is called “bellows breathing.” You may want to first observe the way it looks and sounds - then we can practice it together with greater ease. (Practice bellows breathing for approximately 20 seconds.) Resuming natural easy breathing . . . notice that you’re ready to reenter your day, feeling enlivened and refreshed.
