With some women, menopause symptoms are not severe. A blood test allows your doctor to confirm a diagnosis with mild symptoms. Also, a blood test can eliminate other conditions such as thyroid issues that have symptoms similar to menopause. Some of the mild symptoms of menopause are as simple as missed periods. Your doctor can confirm that this irregularity is actually menopause and not an unexpected pregnancy.
