Possibly, but more than likely your body will be so accustomed to the routine that your physiological changes would be minimal at best. It is very important to change your program on a regular basis. Your body will adapt to your program and you will begin to see fewer results. In addition, completing the same program for an extended length of time increases your chance of being injured due to something called pattern overload (repeating a pattern continuously which wears your body down over time).

Congratulations on exercising consistently for five years. But like all good things, it must come to an end. If you have been doing the same routine for that long it is time to shake things up a bit. Change your cardio routine in order to maintain the endurance you have built, while continuing to make gains. Alternate your choices on cardio training days. For example, run on Monday, use the elliptical on Wednesday, and bicycle on Friday. After seeing my personal results, as well as my clients’ results, I have become a strong supporter of interval training. Interval training during cardio exercises means varying the levels of intensity during a workout period. Now it is time to get creative. When you’re on the elliptical, go forward, backward, use the handles or don’t hold on at all. Instead, learn to balance yourself while in motion. When using the treadmill, go forward, backward, side step, use the incline, or alternate speeds. Use a bike for a few minutes, switch to the elliptical, and finish with the treadmill. Run for a distance, walk and sprint, side-step, run backwards, skip, or do carioca steps, then run again. Get on the treadmill or elliptical for a few minutes, then jump rope for a few minutes, alternating between the two. Think outside the box and you will find that the possibilities are endless. Over time, the body will adapt to whatever you challenge it to do. Interval training will change your body from the inside out. You will look better, feel better, and improve your body’s overall health, all at the same time.

Some is always better than none, however, your body responds to the demands that you put on it.  If these demands are not changed or increased you may plateau or not see any further changes in your health.  in addition you may be training the same areas while neglecting others, which over time may lead to overuse injuries.  Some exercise is always better than none, but don't be afraid to change it up once in a while.

After doing the same fitness routine for 5 years your body has probably stabilized within this routine.  'Are you seeing benefits from this routine?', more than likely your are seeing benefits because you are maintaining your current fitness level.  'Are you seeing improvements?', you are probably seeing limited improvements because you are not challenging your body in new ways.  Hope this helps

Your body has probably adapted to the program and is able to do those same exercises much more efficiently.  While some exercise is better than none, you are probably getting much less benefit than if you changed your fitness program.

A question you might want to ask yourself is: why have I done the same program for five years?  Is it a matter of comfort?  Is it because of a fear of trying something new, or is it because you like doing a fitness program that you feel confident doing, and don’t want to “start over” in terms of having mastery over a program?  By addressing this question, you can start to come up with a plan to change your routine but keep the success that you have had in consistency.  If you enjoy working out with a buddy, they can help you to discover new exercises and also provide some confidence and support in trying something new.  Having a personal trainer develop a new program can give you a complete set of new exercises and help with proper form, to help you feel more confident about a new program.

Best of luck, and congratulations on already working out consistently for five years!
