  1. Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma is a very aggressive form of cancer, meaning it spreads quickly throughout the body. Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma can develop in a variety of places, most commonly the throat, mouth, and nasal cavity. Tumors start in those localized areas, but because it's usually not diagnosed till later, the cancer may metastasize, or spread to distant organs such as the lungs and liver. In fact, it's estimated that around 40% of people with basaloid squamous cell carcinoma develop cancer in other places. Depending on where the cancer spreads, basaloid squamous cell carcinoma can become life-threatening.
